You may know American actress Meghann Fahy for starring in Freeform’s The Bold Type – here are 5 things to know about her!
1. She’s been singing since she was 8
Fahy began singing at the age of 8 but didn’t start acting until she appeared as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz in her senior class play at high school. Shortly after, her mom encouraged her to try out for open calls in New York.
2. Her first TV appearance was on Gossip Girl
After booking a guest role on Gossip Girl, Fahy recalled feeling very overwhelmed by the experience.
“It was my first time being on a television set ever. I was so nervous I could barely speak. I had this scene where I had to be typing on the computer and I was slamming so hard on the keys. I remember I was wearing really, really expensive shoes and I broke the heel off of one of them which was absolutely mortifying,” she said during an interview with Cosmopolitan in August 2017. “But I had my scenes with Ed Westwick and he was so kind. He knew how nervous I was and he made me feel so comfortable.”
She continued: “I always remembered that moving forward, working with other people — just how much it meant to me that he was so kind and went out of his way to make me feel comfortable on a set that was not my own.”
3. Fahy was a soap star before The Bold Type
Before playing Scarlett Magazine stylist Sutton Brady, Fahy played Hannah O’Connor on ‘One Life to Live’ in 2010 before the series got cancelled two years later.
4. In 2010, Fahy took over as the principal actor for Natalie in Next to Normal
Although she went on to star in the show until it closed in January 2011, she found the initial transition from understudy to principle hard. “It was a really, really big adjustment.”
5. Who Will She Play in Season 2 of ‘The White Lotus’?
During season 2 of the hit HBO series The White Lotus, Fahy will be playing a woman named Daphne who is on vacation in Italy with her husband. Theo James has been cast as Fahy’s onscreen love interest Cameron.
