One Chicago: It will be a crossover season challenging Covid!

The episodes of the One Chicago world have just gone on hiatus but the writers are ready to get back to work for the new episodes coming to us in the fall and they announce that it will be a crossover season!

The premiere episode of Chicago Fire will feature many characters from Chicago Med and Chicago PD

Certainly Chicago Fire Season 10 premiere won’t be easy: we left Squad 3 fighting for their lives, two characters waiting for a possible promotion and / or a transfer. For an episode of such a magnitude you need all the help you can get and that’s why we’re going to see a lot of characters from the other two shows.

You’ll see characters from all three One Chicago shows in the first episode of Chicago Fire. We’ll likely keep a bigger crossover at bay until we’re out of the pandemic, even if you never know.

Derek Haas, Chicago Fire showrunner

Every episode we get a schedule and it will say ‘someone is out because of interviews,’ or something, and then it did say ‘LaRoyce [Hawkins] out for Chicago Med,’ so I do know he’s on Med.

Marina Squerciati

We already know that the real crossover could arrive already in the second episodes of the shows, managed with a single big storyline for Med, Fire and Chicago as if to form a long film.

However, things will not be easy due to the restrictive rules of the pandemic

The long-awaited crossover, the previous one aired in 2019, will only be done if it can be done safely and according to the coronavirus pandemic restrictions. Chicago Med showrunner Andrew Schneider was very cautious about it last year but hopeful for this year. Confirming what it was previously said.

Protocols for filming as safe as possible during the pandemic prevented us from doing a major crossover early in the season. We hope to be able to do one in the new year [in 2021].

Andrew Schneider, Chicago Med Showrunner in November 2020

In September 2021 during a new interview Andrew Schneider updated on the situation of crossovers in One Chicago franchising.

We’ll do some limited crossovers with characters from CPD and Fire appearing on Med, but we won’t be able to do a major crossover until the second half of the season [10] when hopefully COVID numbers are low enough to make it feasible.

Not only a crossover in the One Chicago universe but also one with FBI and FBI Most Wanted

For the next season there are also some character shifts between Chicago PD and CBS’s FBI, which share the same showrunner, Rick Eid. It could also be some small crossover with FBI Most Wanted.

We are certainly discussing crossover, but the manufacturing constraints with the COVID protocol present an added challenge. Viewers will see some character crossovers, but it’s doubtful we’ll be able to do any “real” crossovers.

What do you think of the idea of seeing the characters of the One Chicago universe interact even more with each other in crossover? And with the FBI universe?

They say our favourite heroines’ strong characteristics live in each of us. Right for this reason I’d like to be beautiful like Brooke Davis, clever like Raven Reyes and confident like Stella Kidd. Instead, I’m flabby like Kate Pearson, dreamy like Belle Gold and determined like Brianna Fraser.
I love passionate TV series, great cinema, and good books. To combine my greatest passions, I gave life to the world of Survived The Shows, which I’m currently running, as well as creating digital content and writing articles and reviews.
