We at Survived The Shows had the pleasure of chatting with Aadila Dosani about her experience in the Paramount+ show Joe Pickett, whose Season 2 is coming very soon, the making of Hallmark’s upcoming movie A Picture of Her and what fans can expect from both of her characters’ storylines. Check out the full interview in the video below!
What’s the main element in Cricket’s character and the movie in general that fascinates you the most and drew you to join Joe Pickett ?
AADILA DOSANI: The show itself is actually based on C.J. Box’s novels, the Joe Pickett novels. And I guess, first and foremost, what drew me to the show was that I’m like a crude true crime fan. I like love everything about that, and not that Joe Pickett’s about true crime or anything like that, but it definitely goes into like an underbelly of America that we get to see with Joe kind of leading the pack. I just love the fact that we get this like every-day aspirational man who’s just trying to do right by his family and will do anything and everything to make sure that he can do that and take care of them and that’s what I really loved about the show.
The fact that Joe Pickett himself was just so relatable and aspirational in a way where there’s no like toxic masculinity or anything like that, but in a way where he puts his family 1st and it’s kind of a show that you could watch with your family because there’s not a lot of cruelty in it or anything, but it really kind of just highlights parts of America that people should know about.
And then in terms of Cricket, I loved Cricket because she’s like a cuckoo banana.
She’s this just like conspiracy theorists deputy, who I feel like is every woman, she’s like a cat lady. Her home is filled with all this cat paraphernalia. She loves romance novels and Harlequin novels and probably hallmarks because she has that quirkiness about her.
But she’s also like a boss babe, she’s the one who kind of knows what’s actually happening in the town and kind of is the one who helps solve all of these crimes because she’s so smart and she gets to be both those things, which I think all of us are, and she’s super relatable. She’s messy and curious, but super freaking smart.
To all the people that haven’t caught up on Joe Pickett yet, how would you describe the show in just 3 words?
Gritty. Character-driven, which I think is really awesome to watch shows like that these days. And suspenseful. It’s as like Ozark meets Yellowstone.

What can you tease about Cricket’s journey in Season 2?
We finished filming Season 2 at the end of last year, and so we’re just waiting all the post-prod is happening and we’re waiting for a release date. But this season is going to be off the charts like I can’t say too much, but what I can say is that there is a lot of action, a lot of horses, but like in the best way the storyline this season is going to hit home, because it’s very relevant to what’s happening in the world right now.
So I’m really excited for people to see that because I think people are really going to be able to relate to quite a few parts of it, which I think is going to be really heartwarming and heartbreaking. It’s going to have that emotional rollercoaster. For cricket, you get to see her just flourish into being a badass. She finds her own voice, her own way of doing things and she just becomes super confident. And you get to see her outside of the station and become a badass. That’s all I can really say. But I think it’s it’s super cool.
If you could choose any other character on Joe Pickett, apart from Cricket, that you would have loved to play, which one would it be and why?
Oh my gosh, there’s so many good characters because it is so character-driven. OK, Missy. Sharon Lawrence, who plays Missy, is just freaking fabulous. Her character is just out of this world. Hilarious. Like I would have absolutely loved but you know like Missy, she gets explore and Sharon’s a brilliant actress who’s been doing this for so long. But the fun she gets to have with that character. Oh my gosh, that would have been super fun. And then also, how dope would it be to play Sheriff Barnum?.
What’s the main element in Janice’s character and the movie in general that fascinates you the most and drew you to join Picture of Her?
I love doing Hallmarks because it’s just two hours of light-hearted fun, where you can just escape and forget about all the trials and tribulations of life. And so anytime I have an opportunity to do a Hallmark film, I jump on board.
And my character, Janice is just the quintessential cliche of a human who just gives tidbits to gossip magazines. So it’s so fun because like we’re all like that. It was wonderful because our director would just let me be so extra about her character anyway just because of how is she drives the film and the information in it for the leads. But yeah, it was just really fun to play a Snooty gossiper.
To all the Hallmark fans looking forward to watching the movie, how would you describe A Picture of Her in just 3 words?
It hinges on like a little bit of sexy flirty. It’s just really fun. It’s fresh, so fresh. But heartwarming, because you always do the right thing and you cannot miss a beat because so much stuff happens. So if I would say to tease this one literally have like 2 refills of popcorn or chips or whatever your drink, everything ready. Because it’s one of those things where like you don’t want to miss a beat because so many little things happen in it for the end resolution to happen.
