Lifetime Movie Network ‘s movie “Smart Home Killer”, is all set to premiere on the channel on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 8/7c. We at Survived The Shows had the incredibile chance to chat via email with star Anwen O’Driscoll and discuss the movie Smart Home Killer and her on-set experience. Check out the full interview below!

Can you tell us a bit about your character in Smart Home Killer?
Harper is good hearted and strong willed, with a bit of a feisty rebellious streak. She’s very determined, and despite wanting independence from her mother, at the end of the day her mom is the most important person to her.
What initially attracted you to your role in Smart Home Killer?
I loved how complicated the relationship was between Harper and Leah, and how it flourished into the strongest mother daughter bond because of the protection they needed to have for each other. Something that was always there but that Harper had been overlooking while she was so focused on pushing Leah away; her idea of her own freedom.
What do you think makes this movie so special and captivating?
We are living in an age of technology and AI in its beginning stages, we don’t fully understand it, and this film explores the possibilities of what that can be depending on how humans interact with it, and how they use it. I think this film will keep you on the edge of your seat because we are all curious to see how AI can be used, good or bad.
What do you hope audiences take away from watching Smart Home Killer?
I hope that they think about their own family, and how strong the bonds truly are, and the love that is there even in times of upset at each other. To protect and care for your loved ones, and how that love can overcome all obstacles.
What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?
I had a blast working with Natalie Brown, and I feel I’ve made a friend for life. I felt I connected deeply with the entire cast and crew, the whole team honestly. Everyone was lovely, and it was an amazingly positive set the whole way through.
What was your favorite scene or moment while filming Smart Home Killer?
I won’t give too much away, but the whole end of the movie was a lot of fun to film. The intensity, choreography, the work and care that the whole crew put into how the ending scenes look was fantastic.
Can you tell us about any challenges you faced while filming Smart Home Killer and how you overcame them?
All of our intense scenes were night shoots, and everyone put their best work into those scenes. Because of how hard the energy was, our amazing director Meeshelle Neal, and whole cast kept everything lighthearted in between action and cut, making jokes, being positive, 3am little dance parties – it all helped the whole energy of the set.
Change of subject, What have been some of the most memorable projects you have worked on throughout your career, and why?
I recently did a film called You Can Live Forever, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival – you can watch it on YouTube, Apple TV, and Crave. It was truly a life changing experience for me with how beautiful everyone’s work was on that project. Incredible directors, and cast that I felt I was constantly learning from. An intense love story that will stay in my heart forever. To add, I used to do a lot of theatre, and the most memorable plays were the ones my brilliant mother directed, who’s a screenwriter and author.
Can you tease something about your next projects?
This is now another one of my favourite projects. An upcoming film called The Bearded Girl, the story of a bearded girl who’s tired of being a freak. It’s a very powerful mother daughter, and self discovery story. I got to wear a beard for this movie and it was AWESOME! I’m incredibly excited for everyone to see this masterpiece!
