Our Mother’s Secret Affair will premiere on Lifetime Movie Network on May 2nd. We at Survived The Shows had the pleasure of chatting with lead Ashley Leggat, who portrays Diana, about her experience on LMN’s Our Mother’s Secret Affair and a lot more.

Can you tell us a bit about your character in Our Mother’s Secret Affair?
I play Diana Parker. Diana is a single mom who is trying her best to hold things together for her teenage daughter. Diana carries a secret that she has never shared with anyone – she has another daughter she gave up for adoption when she was a newborn. When Diana’s world implodes, she needs to find a way to earn her daughter’s trust back, as well as keep her safe.
What initially attracted you to your role in Our Mother’s Secret Affair?
I have worked with Pierre and Steve (the producers) on a few other Lifetime movies, and I was really excited for the opportunity to work with them again, this time with the fabulous Roxanne Boisvert directing. The script felt so appealing to me because I am a mom of daughters and I know the love that a mother has for her children. The twists and turns in the script had me racing to the end, and I knew I wanted to be a part of bringing it to life.
What do you think makes this movie so special and captivating?
This movie is captivating because it will keep you on the edge of your seat. The twists and turns that are coming will blow your mind!
What do you hope audiences take away from watching Our Mother’s Secret Affair?
I hope audiences finish the movie feeling like they’ve been on an emotional ride. It highlights a mother’s love, family ties, and how secrets can rip a perfect life apart at the seams.
What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?
We had a blast filming this movie. Pierre is always the most hilarious human. Roxanne, our director, is so fierce. She has the most beautiful way of getting the best performances out of her actors, and has the ability to keep set a fun and stress free environment, even when dealing with some incredibly tense dialogue. The cast were all amazingly talented and kind, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a more positive experience.
What can you tease about your character Journey?
Diana has the perfect life, or so she thinks. She has spent the last 18 years hiding a secret, and her biggest fear was always that it will come back to bite her… and the time is now. Diana has to learn to be honest, and let her teenage daughter make her own way in life, while trying to keep the rest of her world from turning upside down. Diana has to find her inner strength and become the hero her child needs.
What was your favorite scene or moment while filming Our Mother’s Secret Affair?
My favourite scene is the last scene of the movie with Laura Alfelskie, Laura Provenzano, Pip Dwyer, and Scott Gibson. We had a lot of fun improvising together.
At Survived the Shows, we are big fans of Christmas comedies. What is your all-time favorite?
Chevy Chase’s Christmas Vacation!!!! Best movie of all time.
Change of subject, What have been some of the most memorable projects you have worked on throughout your career, and why?
I’ve had so many amazing memories throughout the last 20 years of working. Life with Derek will always be the top. Michael Seater and I are kindred spirits and anything I do with him will always be my favourite.
Can you tease something about your next projects?
A new comedy called Day Players which is absolutely HILARIOUS. It’s one of the funniest shows I’ve seen and I can’t wait for everyone else to get a chance to see it too.
