Rhiannon Fish and David Elsendoorn star in My Norwegian Holiday, a new, original movie premiering December 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT as part of the Countdown to Christmas movie line-up on Hallmark Channel. We at Survived The Shows had the chance to chat via email with writer Betsy Morris, who discussed the movie by sharing her experience on set. Check out the full interview below!

Can you tell us a bit about the storyline of “My Norwegian Holiday”?
BETSY MORRIS: JJ accepts a free ticket to Bergen Norway in the hopes of tracking down the original of a troll that was special to her grandmother, who recently passed. Once there, she finds family, love, and a few surprises along the way.
What initially attracted you to the incipit in “My Norwegian Holiday”?
BETSY MORRIS: The original idea was someone had a non-refundable ticket in his ex’s name and he goes on a quest to find someone to take the ticket. Which is, admittedly, a bit creepy. So it evolved from there. And I have dear friends in gorgeous Bergen, so I set the story there.
What do you think makes the romance in the movie so special and captivating?
BETSY MORRIS: The two leads are both lost and grieving for something they will never have again. They recognize that they’re helping each other heal which becomes a path into a future they never imagined.

What do you hope audiences take away from watching “My Norwegian Holiday”?
BETSY MORRIS: If you can’t see ahead on the road you’re taking, maybe you’re on the wrong road. Be open to what the universe is offering to you. Also, visit Bergen, but may I recommend you consider summer. 🙂
What was your favorite scene or moment while writing “My Norwegian Holiday”?
BETSY MORRIS: Henrik hauling up a mountain on a bad leg to find JJ because he knows she’s hurting and alone. Because love is a verb. I loved writing that, and then the actors took it to a whole higher level with their performances.
