Lifetime ‘s movie “Sabotaging the Squad”, is all set to premiered on the channel on Thursday February 1, 2024 at 8/7c. We at Survived The Shows had the pleasure of chatting with lead actress Brittany Goodwin about her experience in the making of Sabotaging the Squad and what fans can expect from the movie.

Can you tell us a bit about your character in Sabotaging the Squad?
My character GEMMA has spent her whole life as a cheerleader, and she jumps at the opportunity to assistant coach with her highschool bestfriend, Missy. Gemma is driven but lacks confidence and just may be trying a little too hard to be young and loved. Don’t underestimate her though… she’s got a few things up her sleeve!
What initially attracted you to your role in Sabotaging the Squad?
I was so excited to work with director Dylan Vox again, he is such a visionary director and I knew how elevated his projects are! The character was intriguing because she has a lot of layers that continue to unravel throughout the film, and I knew I could trust Dylan to help me bring out the best Gemma possible!
What do you think makes this movie so special and captivating?
The cheerleading in Sabotaging the Squad is AMAZING! All of the stunts are done by young cheerleaders on actual squads and it was so incredible to watch what they can do. I know there have been a lot of Cheer movies to come to Lifetime but I’ve never seen one about competition cheer, and definitely not with the level of performances these girls could pull off. It’s a thriller but it’s also an action packed sports movie.
What do you hope audiences take away from watching Sabotaging the Squad?
I just hope they enjoy every step of the ride. From fun reminiscing with Gemma and Missy about the good old days, to high flying stunts, to the guessing game of who is behind the terrible things happening to the squad – this movie never slows down!
What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?
The entire cast was amazing. I especially enjoyed working with Meyon (who plays Missy) on some intense stunt/fight scenes (no spoilers!). It’s definitely an ensemble movie and Dylan perfectly cast every role. We had a lot of fun and I would love to work with any and all of them again.
What can you tease about your character Journey?
It’s a rollercoaster! And don’t always trust the meek, quiet types… you never know what they are planning during their silence!
What was your favorite scene or moment while filming Sabotaging the Squad?
Without giving away any spoilers, the ending climax was an incredible challenge for me as an actor and stunt performer and our director Dylan made it a very rewarding experience. But also, as mentioned before, just watching all of the cheerleaders! These girls are all incredible athletes at such a young age, it was truly inspiring to witness first hand.
Can you tell us about any challenges you faced while filming Sabotaging the Squad? and how you overcame them?
I grew up in Musical Theatre but I never cheered a day in my life! So learning cheer lingo, and coming up with some fun cheers with Meyon was a highlight and an educational experience. Luckily I didn’t have to do much choreography because that would have been a bigger challenge for sure, haha!
Change of subject, What have been some of the most memorable projects you have worked on throughout your career, and why?
Oh such a tough question… but I definitely have to include Cream of the Crop, a romcom I starred in a few years back. It involved tons of work on a farm with live animals including cows, pigs, goats, and most notably several intense scenes on horseback. That was another challenging experience for me but worth every second! I’m also a writer and director so I can’t forget some of my favorite experiences behind the camera on movies like Hometown Remedy, Falling for the Competition, and a Goonies-esque period comedy called Little Heroes. I’m blessed to have been apart of so many unique and special projects over the years!
Can you tease something about your next projects?
I recently directed a twin-themed thriller for Lifetime that is coming later this year called Separated Sisters, and am also in pre-production for a very unique faith-based romantic comedy. Sadly I can’t say too much as I have to keep things hush hush for now… but let’s just say I’m incredibly excited for all that 2024 has to offer!
