Kimberley Sustad and Brooks Darnell star in “Game of Love,” a new, original movie premiering Saturday, March 11 (8 p.m. ET/PT), on Hallmark Channel. We at Survived The Shows had the pleasure of chatting with Claude Knowlton about his experience in the making of the movie and what fans can expect. Check out the full interview in the video below!
What’s the main element in Pierre’s character and show in general that fascinates you the most and drew you to join Game of Love?
CLAUDE KNOWLTON: Actually it’s because I speak French fluently, so that was a big plus, I guess, for the producers to hire me, even though I am from Montreal. It’s French Canadian, as in Quebec you can turn on the French dialect very easily. Not so much the other way around for French people trying to do the Quebecois. I’ve never actually seen anyone who can do it, but so that was a plus. And also I’ve worked in the restaurant business for years. So I did say that in my slate because a lot of it had to do with food and serving, and I thought my experience in French restaurants was the plus for them to hire me.

To all the fans looking forward to watching the new season, how would you describe Game of Love in just 3 words?
Cute, romantic and just life in general, like enjoying life.
What can you tease about Pierre’s journey throughout the movie?
At first the couple, the leads were not so keen on me. Like, ‘who is this guy?’ And eventually they just kind of liked me because I’m so adorable.
If you could choose any other character from Game of Love, apart from Pierre, you would have loved to play, which one would it be and why?
The lead, of course, I think I’m past my prime. Obviously I’m in my 50s, so they don’t really have guys in their 50s playing the leads, but that would have been great. They could do movies about elderly, but no, it could be, um, maybe the supporting role would be the older couple or something because they’re doing it now with African Americans, LGBTQ, you know, with what’s current out there, diversity and stuff with Hallmark. But I think the lead would have been great because it’s always a little bit more challenging to actually do the lead in a movie. So that would have been great.
