Sarah Power and Thomas Cadrot will star in “When Love Blooms” a new, original movie that premiered Sunday, May 14 on UP TV. We at Survived The Shows had the great pleasure of chatting with Diana Salvatore, discuss her involvement in the making of the movie and what can fans expect from it. Check out the full interview below!
What’s the main element in your character and the movie in general that fascinates you the most and drew you to join When Love Blooms?
I loved the drive and ambition of Toni. I liked how she turned her pain of rejection into focus and used it as her driving force. It’s a beautiful feel good story. I liked how every character was fighting their own battles and stepped into their potential making room for love to bloom both personally and romantically.
Where are you and your character most similar and where most different as human beings?
Toni has a touch of menace, that’s definitely something we have in common! I like to shake things up and rattle or shock people for good fun! I relate to Toni’s ambition and what drives her. I am absolutely NOT competitive so it was fun to get into that headspace.
I’m a lot nicer and calmer then Toni and not as type A. I’m a bit of a free loving hippy at heart.
What’s been the biggest challenge for you in portraying Toni?
Toni has a hard time with being vulnerable or seen as weak. I relate. Finding the balance with her motives while keeping it comedic and light was my go to. Deflecting her pain but with comedic timing.

What can you tease about Toni’s journey throughout the movie?
She’s out for blood
Talking about the environment on set, how would you describe your experience while filming When Love Blooms and do you have any fun anecdotes to share?
We shot the movie in Montreal during the hight of the pandemic. Montreal is my favourite Canadian city! The whole cast and crew were unbelievable. We had our own little world casting light during a dark time of unknowns. I feel very lucky to have been given the opportunity to be a part of that ❤️
If you could choose any other character from When Love Blooms, apart from Toni, that you would have loved to play, which one would it be and why?
Aaron Blum. The male leading man. That would be a stretch. We’re in the business of make believe so let’s go all the way with it!
Did you take anything from set, any prop or piece of costume, to remember your experience as Toni?
I took willows from my characters arrangement during the final scene of the competition. They are in my journal ❤️
What can you tease about your next projects?
I’ve recently been cast in a film that’s quite darker in context with a musical component. I’m a singer and writer as well so this will be a dream project. That’s all I can say about it! Im beyond grateful to be working with some incredible hearts and minds.
