In view of the Lifetime premiere of her new movie Black Girl Missing, we at Survived The Shows had the pleasure of chatting with Iyana Halley and recall her experience as Adult Annie Person, Randall’s daughter, on the final season of This Is Us. Check out the full interview in the video below!
Among your past projects, we particularly remember your role in a wonderful NBC series, This Is Us, where you played the adult version of Annie, Randall Pearson ‘s daughter. What‘s your favourite memory out of that experience and what can you tell us about the role?
IYANA HALLEY: So one thing about This Is Us, it’s so many cast members, but every time I would go to work, they definitely made me feel like family. But Randall, who is of course played by Sterling K Brown, who plays my dad on the show, he is so funny. You can’t be on set with Sterling and not laugh. And he even, he told me about this game, that’s like riddle, wordle or something. I started playing and he’d make jokes and he’s like, ‘did you win? how’s it going for you?’ And he’s just so funny. So my time with him, hilarious, and even the two girls who played my sister and the one who plays Deja, like we created a little bond. So I had a great time on This Is Us.
It’s incredible. And I think it’s also an incredible and formative experience for a young actor who is trying to take his first steps in this career.
Yeah, it really is. Oh, you know what, I had a scene actually with Mandy Moore. I don’t know if you saw it, but it’s on the train. I was so excited to work with her. That was actually the first time I think I actually got to meet her on set. Of course she was like playing sleeping, you know, she was older in that, but it was just really cool to get to work with her. So I was like fangirling internally. But yeah, it was exciting.
