We at Survived the Shows had the incredible chance to speak with lead Corin Nemec, who teased Lifetime’s Couples Retreat Murder and his experience in the movie. Can you tell us a bit about your character in Couples Retreat Murder?
My character, Phil, is a silver spoon baby, meaning that he was born in opulence with a family that is loaded with cash. And so in reality, he’s never really had to experience the everyday workaholic struggle that the average person has to experience, including myself. And so he’s aloof. He’s not really connected to how people really feel about things, even personal things. His financial stability puts him even above the necessity of being sorry, you know, for his behavior because, well, hey, he makes all the money, so it doesn’t really matter how he behaves because he makes all the money.
What initially attracted you to your role in Couples Retreat Murder?
The first thing that attracted me to it was a, I’m good friends with some of the producers on it, Jeff Schenck and Barry Barnholtz, those two specifically, and some of the other producers on it, too. And the lead actor as well. Rib is a buddy of mine. I’ve done a couple of films with him over the years, and he’s a wonderful guy. He’s just a great talent. He’s wonderful to work with, and it was an opportunity for me to. It’s kind of nice not playing a lead role, to be honest, even though that’s what all of us actors strive for, is for the lead roles, the most important character, the most screen time. In all honesty, it’s quite nice to show up on set and get to do the preparation work that you would normally do for a bigger role and have just as much fun and all of that, but without the same work hours.
