We at Survived The Shows had the incredible chance to talk with lead Jessica Morris, who teased the movie and her experience in ‘A Deadly Threat to my Family‘. Check out the full interview below!
Can you tell us a bit about your character in A Deadly Threat to My Family?
My character, Marielle, becomes increasingly concerned about her sister-in-law Serena’s intentions, because Serena just got out of a dangerous cult and shows signs of still being involved with the group. Especially since Serena is staying in her home and seems to be a negative influence on her daughter, Aria.
What initially attracted you to your role in A Deadly Threat to My Family?
I originally auditioned for the role of Serena and thought it would be fun to play a character that was a bit messed up and lost. So when I got the offer for Marielle, I was already fascinated by the story and agreed that Marielle was a better fit for me.
What do you think makes this movie so special and captivating?
I have known people who have gotten sucked into a cult and I realize how powerful they can be, especially when someone is very emotionally vulnerable. This movie tells a story about a subject matter that has affected many yet is a mystery to most.
What do you hope audiences take away from watching A Deadly Threat to My Family?
It is reminder that you should trust your instincts when you feel that your family isn’t safe.
What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?
Everyone was so fun to work with, especially Isabella Mercurio. Her energy & enthusiasm was quite infectious.
What can you tease about your character’s Journey?
Marielle is definitely on the right track but not everything is what she thinks.
What was your favorite scene or moment while filming A Deadly Threat to My Family?
I loved shooting the kitchen scene with Gina Vitori, when her character (Serena) starts acting incredibly strange and attacks Marielle with a knife. Gina was fully committed and it was scary and exciting.
At Survived the Shows, we are big fans of Christmas comedies. What is your all-time favorite?
One of my favorites is Elf. It is hilarious & heartwarming.
Change of subject, what have been some of the most memorable projects you have worked on throughout your career, and why?
Shooting The Onania Club with Tom Six was an amazing experience. He is such a brilliant director and I hope the movie gets released at some point so the world can view the madness.
Can you tease something about your next projects?
I have another Lifetime movie coming out this year that I wrote with my talented husband, Rib Hillis. I also star in the movie and look forward to seeing the final product.
