Lifetime Channel premiered new thriller movie “Abducted by My Teacher: The Elizabeth Thomas Story” on Saturday, August 12. We at Survived The Shows had the chance to interview star Lisa Marie Di Giacinto and discuss about the movie with her. Check out full interview below!

Can you tell us a bit about your character in “Abducted by my Teacher: The Elizabeth Thomas Story”?

LISA MARIE DIGIACINTO: I’m a Detective Rogers. I’m working on the case with the abduction of Elizabeth Thomas, by her teacher, Tad Cummins. This happened a few years back based on a true story. And basically I come in after, well, I come in sort of at the beginning because my character’s actually investigating their relationship at the very beginning because at first we hear from another one of the other students that they have, you know, relationship. They saw them kissing and there was, you know, stuff going on that that isn’t suitable for a a teacher/student relationship. So we start investigating there and we meet him a couple times and then we see that he’s been lying to us a bit, so we go after them and then she ends up being missing.

What initially attracted you to the role?

LISA MARIE: I think it happens a lot. I think a lot of the times that the teenagers or children basically are blamed. They’re really being taken advantage of because you have to understand when you were teenager, you didn’t know the world. And especially when she had a lack of parenting. So she had to teach herself these things. And she also (not just that) she was homeschooled.

So she had a lack of socialization in general, you know, so I think it happens a lot and I think we don’t know about it and it’s really important to get it out there. And that’s why I love doing these Lifetime movies, because they’re all such great stories. It’s not, it’s really just to get the word out and they’re as accurate as possible. I know that they are and I think it’s really important for the general public to really understand from the victims side.
