Pascale Hutton (When Calls the Heart) and Kavan Smith (When Calls the Heart) star in “Nelly Knows Mysteries,” a new, original movie premiering Friday, August 23th (8 p.m. ET/PT), on Hallmark Mysteries. We at Survived The Shows had the pleasure of chatting with Morgana Wylie about her experience in the making of the movie and what fans can expect. Check out the full interview below!
Can you tell us a bit about your character in Nelly Knows Mysteries: A Fatal Engagement?
I get to play the role of Colleen, and I think that its fair to say she’s protective and caring, especially of her step sister. She is someone who feels a strong need for things to be fair and for actions to have consequences.
What initially attracted you to your role in Nelly Knows Mysteries: A Fatal Engagement?
Im a big fan of Whodunnit stories, so getting to collaborate with Hallmark on a mystery was an exciting idea from the beginning.
What do you think makes this movie so special and captivating?
I think this film especially will keep the audience guessing. Its great to be engaged in a mystery and THINK you know what is about to happen but never be one hundred percent sure until the end. Im looking forward to hearing what the fans think after they see it.
What do you hope audiences take away from watching Nelly Knows Mysteries: A Fatal Engagement?
I hope that audiences get excited about the characters and the journey these characters will continue to have, not only in this film, but in the future stories within the world of Nelly Knows Mysteries!
What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?
The cast is so much fun. There were multiple days that we were all involved in larger group scenes so there was an opportunity to really spend time together. Everyone brings such a specific element to the whole group’s dynamic, whether its their sense of humour, or niche areas of knowledge that they are able to share with the collective.
What can you tease about your character Journey?
Great question, I think its easy to make misconceptions about Colleen… and theres more to her than the audience might expect!
What was your favourite scene or moment while filming Nelly Knows Mysteries: A Fatal Engagement?
Anytime I get to hold animals while Im at work is a great day for me! I wont spoil any more details than that, but it was absolutely one of the highlights of the shoot.
At Survived the Shows, we are big fans of Christmas rom-coms. What is your all-time favorite?
One of my all time favourite Christmas Rom-Coms would have to be the 1995 film ‘While You Were Sleeping’. It was really formative to my appreciation for Rom-Coms growing up, and I love the dynamics within the family, as well as the comedy genius of all the actors involved.
Can you tease something about your next projects?
A couple things are on the horizon, and in development, but thats about all I can tease for now.
Nelly Knows Mysteries, with Morgana Wylie, premieres August 23 on Hallmark Mysteries.
