Rhiannon Fish & Mitchell Bourke star in “A Royal in Paradise” a new, original movie premiering January 7 on Great American Family. We at Survived The Shows had the pleasure of chatting with Rhiannon about her experience in the making of the movie and what fans can expect from the movie. Check out full interview below!
What’s the main element in Olivia’s character and the movie in general that fascinates you the most and drew you to join A Royal in Paradise?
There’s a line the script where Olivia admits that she wanted to be a princess when she grew up. I told Adrian Powers (writer/director) that as soon as I read that line I was like “Oh my goodness. That’s EXACTLY how I felt as a little girl.” I grew up pretty much entirely on Disney movies and as a result wanted nothing more than to be a princess one day.
Where are you and Olivia most similar and where most different as human beings?
Aside from both wanting to be Princesses, I think we both enjoy the art of story telling. Love stories in particular.
We differ is in how we tell those stories. Olivia is a writer and I think I am much more comfortable when someone else writes the words for me.
What’s been the biggest challenge for you in portraying Olivia?
The weather! You may not believe it when you watch the film but it was soooo cold! Especially anytime we went in the ocean or the pool.
To all the fans looking forward to watching the movie, how would you describe “A Royal in Paradise” in just 3 words?
Enchanting, magical, fun.
What can you tease about Olivia’s and Prince Alexander’s journey throughout the movie?
She obviously has to find out that Alexander is a Prince and when I read the script I was sure that was going to be the climax of the story…however that occurs half way through the film…So what happens after that completely took me by surprise.
Talking about the environment on set, how would you describe your experience while filming A Royal in Paradise and do you have any fun anecdotes to share?
We actually swam with real sharks and Mitchel Burke (Prince Alexander) was absolutely terrified…so I kept playing the Jaws theme song on my phone while we were in the water.
If you could choose any other character from A Royal in Paradise, apart from Olivia, that you would have loved to play, which one would it be and why?
I’ve mentioned several times now that I wanted to be a princess…but I think it would be pretty fun to play The Prince too or The Queen!
Did you take anything from set, any prop or piece of costume, to remember your experience as Olivia?
While I didn’t actually take anything from set, I went shopping while I was in Brisbane and bought a stuffed toy cat. I was really missing my two real cats at home lol. Her name is Chloe and she now comes with me on my shoots out of town.
