Sarah Smyth and Catherine Lough Haggquist, star in the movie ‘Have you Seen my Son?’ (aka My Kidnapped Son) premiered on Lifetime Channel on Sunday April 21th, 2024 at 8/7c. We at Survived The Shows had the incredible chance to talk with star Catherine Lough Haggquist,, who teased the movie and her experience in Have you Seen my Son?. Check out the full interview below!

Can you tell us a bit about your character in “Have you seen my Son”?

My character Abbi, was cellmates with Sarah Smyth’s character, Catherine, while she was incarcerated for being responsible for the death of her son. Abbi and Catherine became friends in prison and that friendship continues when they are reunited in the halfway house. Catherine continues to maintain her innocence and seeks Abbi’s help in searching for the truth about what really happened to her son.

What initially attracted you to your role in “Have you seen my Son”?

I found the story of two friends united in pursuit of the truth compelling. Two women who have the odds and public opinion stacked against them and work together to overcome those challenges.

What do you think makes this movie so special and captivating?

I think the bond between these unlikely friends and their ability to accept each other without judgement is a great dynamic that our great director, Jim Cliffe, allowed us to explore and define. Sarah and I had an instant rapport and I think that shows in Abbi and Catherine’s relationship.

What do you hope audiences take away from watching “Have you seen my Son”?

I hope that audiences take away from this movie a fresh take on the power of friendship, even ones that have an unlikely beginning. I also hope we offer a look at the strength of the bond that exists between a mother and her child and the lengths she will go to because of it.

What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?

The cast was truly lovely to work with. Despite the seriousness of the story, the set was actually quite light and joyful. We laughed a lot and enjoyed the beauty of Kelowna, the incredible lakeside city in BC where we filmed.

What can you tease about your character Journey?

My character, Abbi, is estranged from her family and through her support of Catherine on her quest to find the truth she discovers her own inner strength to change her future.

What was your favorite scene or moment while filming “Have you seen my Son”?

There were so many lovely moments but my favourite days were the days that Sarah, Kate, Alana and I were all filming together. It was great spending time with these amazing women and sharing stories between camera set ups.

What can you tease about your character journey on “Fire Country”?

I play the Governor and I have been invited to Edgewater’s 22nd Annual Firefighter’s Ball where the firefighters are trying to save Three Rock and are seeking my help in doing so. It was such a pleasure to join this cast who were all so kind and welcoming to me and to Ryan Mah who plays my assistant in the Governor’s Office.

Change of subject, What have been some of the most memorable projects you have worked on throughout your career, and why?

The 3 seasons I played General Petra Bellweather on “Motherland: Fort Salem” were some of the most exciting stories and creative storytelling that I have had the opportunity to be a part of. The world that we created is one that I still miss visiting and I hope it will remain available through streaming for years to come so that the magic of strong, empowered witches in this very cool allegorical reimagining of the world will continue to be explored by more viewers in the future.

Can you tease something about your next projects?

I can’t share too much but I had some fun a few weeks ago on a birthday party themed-set and what the crew didn’t know at the time was it actually was my birthday that day. So that was fun and a special way to ring in my new year!

“Have you Seen my Son?” starring Catherine Lough Haggquist will premiered on Sunday, April 21th on Lifetime Channel.
