Can you tell us a little bit about your character in Santa Tell Me?
I play Darcy and that is Erin’s sister. Erin plays Olivia, so I play Olivia’s sister Darcy. Darcy is, she’s like really just there to be on board for Olivia’s journey, really. And she has a lot of belief in the magic that is happening around them. She’s like a major cheerleader for her sister. Olivia and Darcy’s parents have unfortunately passed. And so, I think they really rely on each other and, you know, they really band together as family. And yeah, Darcy’s just there to cheer her up if she needs, give her advice if she needs, provide some comic relief at times.
What initially attracted you to your role in this movie?
The writing is so great. I mean, Ryan, our writer, who was also the director, he has a gift everything about the script just, it brought everything. It brought some magic, it brought some fun, it brought heart. And I loved the script from the second I saw it. However, I got even more excited about it during the audition process. I had put something on tape and sent it away. And I think I kind of did it in the way that I think Hallmark would enjoy a supporting character. And I actually ended up getting a note from casting that Ryan wanted me to retape. And he had sent some notes, because I think he saw something in me that they didn’t quite have.
And you don’t usually get to do this anymore, the way that we audition, we have to do self tapes. And so you don’t often get the feedback. And he really encouraged me to just have a little bit more fun with the role, which that in turn made me way more excited, because it allowed me to bring a lot more like spontaneity, a lot more spunk, a lot more energy to the role than I initially had perceived it. And so, yeah, the during the whole process of from start to finish, and creating the character, it just continuously got better and better.
