Sydney Cole Alexander, Steven Good and Karen Strassman star in the movie ‘A Neighbor’s Vendetta’ premiered on Lifetime Movie Network on Thursday July 27th, 2024 at 8/7c. We at Survived The Shows had the incredible chance to talk with star Karen Strassman, who teased the movie and her experience in A Neighbor’s Vendetta. Check out the full interview below!
Can you tell us a bit about your character in A Neighbor’s Vendetta?
I play Jackie, CEO Robert Long’s associate in his architecture firm. Jackie has to meet with Sonja early on in the film to share the tragic news that Robert has died (having no idea about their affair), and informs Sonja she will be continuing to work with me instead. Jackie also goes to Robert’s house to console his widow, Mia, with hopes to be able to take over Robert’s position in the firm. Mia is icy cold to her.
What initially attracted you to your role in A Neighbor’s Vendetta?
I loved that she is a strong and complex female character, who might sense more than we think, and as soon as I met director Rainy Kerwin via zoom, I was immediately inspired by her vision for the film and her passion and clarity as a director, and was immediately compelled to be part of the project.
What do you think makes this movie so special and captivating?
It’s a tense and sexy thriller with very strong and complex female leads. My beautiful co-stars Chelsea Gilligan and Sydney Cole give such chilling ad riveting performances, you can’t stop watching.
What do you hope audiences take away from watching A Neighbor’s Vendetta?
I hope it leaves everyone wanting more of these exciting and powerful female driven projects.
What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?
Because of budget and time, we had very few takes for each set-up to get what was needed. We had to work incredibly fast, be extremely focused and at the top of our games immediately and consistently. Everyone in the cast was a consummate professional, dropping in to intense place at the drop of a hat and dedicated to the highest level of quality. Everyone was extremely supportive and generous and we all still keep in touch. We also help each other with auditions, meet for cast screenings, party together and cheer each other on via social media.
What can you tease about your character journey?
She might have a little more insight into things than you think…
What was your favorite scene or moment while filming A Neighbor’s Vendetta?
The last scene in the film.
Change of subject, what have been some of the most memorable projects you have worked on throughout your career, and why?
Recurring role as Jolene Waite in WEEDS – one of my fav characters and sets
Recurring role as Florence in MAYANS MC – lost extra weight and got covered with tattoos to play a meth addict. The cast and crew were amazing.
Recurring role as Dr Lois Slotnick in PREACHER – I got to create a really eccentric character with a German accent for this absolutely brilliant show with a stellar cast.
