Pascal Lamothe-Kipnes, Stephen Huszar and Kathryn Davis star on Everything Puppies, a new movie premiering Saturday, May 18th at 9/8c on Hallmark Channel. We at Survived The Shows had the great pleasure of chatting with star Kathryn Davis, ahead of the premiere, and discuss her involvement in the making of Everything Puppies and what can fans expect from it. Check out the full interview in the video below!
“Everything Puppies” appears to be a charming film blending entrepreneurship and canine companionship. What attracted you to the character of Gina in this story?
Well, firstly, the idea of working with dogs it’s always going to be a draw to me. I have two of my own, and I love them very, very much. But also, I was drawn to Gina’s optimism and her ability to overcome challenges, I feel with her personality. She’s the glass is half full type, and I admire that because sometimes you can fall into a little bit of a rut, but she’s very uplifting throughout, so I really enjoyed tapping into that.
Hallmark films are known for their uplifting and heartwarming nature. What do you think makes “Everything Puppies” stand out among other romantic comedies in the Hallmark catalog?
Well, the dogs for one, a huge array of gorgeous dogs. Also, something that’s different about this film is that it doesn’t quite follow the traditional formula for Hallmark. There’s a few extra challenges that are thrown in, and we find that the characters not only have a misunderstanding between the love interest, but there’s also a David and Goliath struggle throughout. And literally, without sounding, I mean, ironic, it’s a dog eat dog world in business world.
We watch as not only Scarlet is going through the turmoil of her feelings for someone and questioning whether or not he’s acting in good faith for her, but also she’s struggling in her entrepreneurial world and the faith that she’s had in herself and her creative spirit is being challenged. And so Gina is trying to kind of help her on two fronts and I think that’s a little bit different. And I think it makes it a little bit more flavorful, too.
