The new Lifetime Thriller movie, Murdaugh Murders: The Movie, premiered on the channel on Saturday October 14, 2023 (Part 1) and Sunday October 15, 2023 (Part 2). We at Survived The Shows had the pleasure of chatting with star Vanessa Walsh about her experience in the making of Murdaugh Murders: The Movie and what fans can expect from the movie.
Can you tell us a bit about your character Agent Andrea Carter?
She is part of what’s called SLED, which is South Carolina law enforcement. So she’s investigating the the murders or the deaths initially of Alex’s wife and son. She’s not a real person. I’m not impersonating a real person. I’m a fictional character being created for the movies specifically. So there was some room to breathe there. Didn’t have to work on trying to understand somebody’s essence. So I kind of got to create my own character. And I think of her as a mom and somebody who would have been very distraught and devastated by what happened. But she is a professional and she is going to carry out this investigation until justice is served. So you know, she’s an extension of me and that would be what I would do. I would want to get to the end of it and make sure that he is charged. So yeah, I feel that she is me.
What initially attracted you to the role of Agent Andrea Carteri n “Murdaugh Murders: The Movie ”?
I’ve never played a detective before and I’ve been wanting to for a long time, so that’s pretty much the reason. I do also love doing accents, come from a theatre background, so but I’ve always just loved just I love accents. So I got to do a South Carolina accent. I would say those were, those were some big draws.
