On October 29, GAC is airing Journey to Christmas, starring Ash Tsai and Joey Heyworth. We at Survived The Shows had the pleasure of chatting with Writer Brittany Wiscombe about her experience in the making of “Journey to Christmas“ and what fans can expect from the movie.

Can you tell us a bit about the storyline of “Journey to Christmas”?
It’s about an up-and-coming model who is on a charity tour across the country on the way to an event for Christmas. She hires a driver to take her to each place but they are detoured when a winter storm sets in. The driver takes her to his parents’ home, and she finds there the family she’s been yearning for, and a romance with the driver.
What initially attracted you to the incipit of “Journey to Christmas”?
It has nice “heart” to it. The original writer, Missy Cohen-Fyffe, sent it to our team, and I liked that feel of it. I worked to develop the script further to fit the vision Brian Brough (director) and I had for it.
What do you think makes the romance in the movie so special and captivating?
I think how down-to-earth the characters are make it fun and endearing; even though the main character, Cali, (played by Ash Tsai) is a model on the edge of celebrity status, she still is humble and wants what we all want.
What do you hope audiences take away from watching “Journey to Christmas”?
I hope audiences see the possibility of love between two good-hearted people, and also forgiveness to overcome the past.
What can you tease about the characters Journey?
The characters each have their own goals but find that achieving them doesn’t mean they have to give up love and family.
What was your favorite scene or moment while directing “Journey to Christmas”?
I didn’t direct this one (Brian Brough is the director), but I love how the scene with the agent turned out; such a fun moment of confrontation and humor.
