Brilliant but down-to-earth, Jessy Schram has just come back to Chicago Med after a brief hiatus that allowed her character to recover from a heroin addiction. And now comes the good stuff. We at Survived The Shows had the great pleasure of discussing with actress Jessy Schram about her experience on Hallmark Movies and her career.
We are big Hallmark Movies fans and we know you joined a lot them in your career. Which one is the character/movie you like the most?
Wow, that’s hard. I’ve loved so many. Like there’s definitely a few that are the top ones and they’re all for different reasons.

I was just thinking of a show that I did a while ago for Lifetime called Lizzie Borden Chronicles with Christina Ricci as the star. That was a television show but that was one where I got to play Nance and it was 1904. She was this actress and singer, dancer and playing in the corsets and all of the period pieces and I loved that role because I got to learn. I got to learn about the culture then but also what it meant to be an actor then which was a very bad stigma.
I loved Cinderella of Once Upon a time.
Falling Skies’ Karen is near and dear to my heart. I got to play this amazing motorcycle scout slash villain alien. Right now I’m playing Hannah Asher on Chicago Med, which is a heroin addicted gynecologist that’s in recovery. I feel like a lot of the times, the characters that I love to play most are the ones that are a little bit more challenging and that I get to do research on the outside of who you see. A lot of the characters that I love to play in the experiences that I love are mainly the crew. The crew is number one. That’s how your experience goes, but also the characters are usually the ones where I put a little bit too much pressure on myself and have to figure out the best way to get inside as opposed to external.
Your costar on “Road to Christmas” was Chad Michael Murray, who is one of our favourite One Tree Hill stars. How was it like to work with him in this romcom movie?

Oh, he was so great. I mean you can’t beat those dimples. He’s the shining star as that way. I never watched One Tree Hill so I didn’t have the fan effect in that way. But I mean, it’s Chad Michael Murray. I grew up, you know, with him on my friends’ walls. So he was such a class act and so lovely and really brought like I say a shining star. He brought that little twinkle in his eyes to the scenes that not everybody is able to do. He was really lovely and his wife and family travels with him everywhere. So I got to meet them and they were so supportive and so great.
