EXCLUSIVE: Jessy Schram Talks about her experience on Once upon a Time – WATCH INTERVIEW

Share:

Brilliant but down-to-earth, Jessy Schram has just come back to Chicago Med after a brief hiatus that allowed her character to recover from a heroin addiction. And now comes the good stuff. We at Survived The Shows had the great pleasure of discussing with actress Jessy Schram about her experience on the tv series Once upon a Time and her career.

Another big role for you, which is also one of our favourites, was Ashley Boyd / Cinderella in tv series ‘Once upon a Time’ and in its spin off “Once upon a time in Wonderland”. What can you share something about that experience and working with the cast and crew?

JESSY SCHRAM: It was amazing. It really was the best of the best. Everyone was there to bring their all and to really create not just you a job. Sometimes you can go to a set and you fall into that, ‘You know, well, we’re just here to do our work and collect our paycheck’. And that was not this series at all. Everybody really was pulling from different elements, and I think because it had that fairy tale aspect to it, we all reached a little bit higher, wider, deeper.

All the different ways where you get to play in a different way and make the play a reality. And I thought that that was really cool. And I mean all the cast was so amazing and so lovely and I just respected them so much they really were amazing, both on set and off. […] Some of us keep in touch and you know even if it’s just through social media giving hard eyes to each other every now and then. You know we all poke at each other.

You also joined a lot of Once upon a Time conventions around the world. I attended some conventions myself and I can say it is truly a magical time for a fan. From your perspective, how can you describe your experience at this kind of events?

JS: It’s amazing. I mean it’s always a little scary because you’re like ‘Oh no. Are people going to show up? what’s happening? and it’s such an honour to get to be in the shoes, that I get to be in that position on the stage as the Q&A’s are really fun because the questions that come from the audience are always way more fun than the ones that are, you know, brought up by the hosts because it’s from true fans that want to know personal aspects of what had happened.

But I think getting to meet everybody and I think, you know, Once Upon a time affected people in a lot of different ways. For a lot of different reasons. And I think it’s just- I always get a little bit shy because you forget how many people it’s impacted and the fact that people show up to get to meet you as Cinderella or the person that got to portray this character, it’s extremely flattering, and I get, you know, it’s a real honour to get to be in that position because it really is… It’s fun.

It’s fun when people bring personal items for you to sign, or you know, they’ve made. I once got a lunch box full of all my characters, you know, so it’s like what the creativity? That comes from fans. As always, my favourite part.

Do you already know whether you will join other conventions this year?

JS: I hope so. You know, to be honest, I’ve missed out on a lot of the conventions. I got to go to Spain, which was, oh my gosh, so amazing; we got to do one in Madrid with David Anders and Keegan. I would love to go to the one that’s in Paris. You know, I think I’ve been working a lot so I haven’t always had availability to go, but I want to. I want to figure out how I can, how I can travel the world to see the fans again.

Keep following us to know more about Jessy Schram! We have more to come!
