Great American Family ’s holiday programming franchise returns on Friday, October 21 and it’s ready to bring the best Christmas movies to its audience. We at Survived The Shows had the pleasure of chatting with Casey Elliott about his experience in the making of Destined at Christmas and what fans can expect from the movie.

Casey Elliott Interview
Destined at Christmas, starring Shae Robins and Casey Elliott, premieres Oct. 22 on Great American Family!

Desirèe: What’s the main element in Kim’s character and the movie in general that fascinates you the most and drew you to join Destined at Chrismas?

Casey: I thought the story was really fun. I love that Theo and Kim’s relationship is so strong in the beginning and that they have to piece the puzzle together for most of the film to find each other again.

D: As we know quite well so far, GAC movies and shows always feature well-shaped and relatable characters – Where are you and Theo most similar and where most different as human beings?

C: Well, my real life daughter played my movie daughter, so that was pretty relatable! 🙂

D: What’s been the biggest challenge for you in portraying Theo?

C: Theo was pretty easy for me. I think he was written in a really relatable way. Most people are open to finding love, even if they’re not outright looking for it.

D: To all the fans looking forward to watching the movie, how would you describe Destined at Christmas in just 3 words?

C: Christmas Romance Magic!

D: What can you tease about Theo’s journey throughout the movie?

C: He doesn’t give up looking for Kim!

D: Talking about the environment on set, how would you describe your experience while filming Destined at Christmas and do you have any fun anecdotes to share?

C: Such a fun set to be on. Working with my daughter and with my good friend Shae was so fun. I also loved the crew. One funny story was One day, Eve got a hold of a MtN Dew can. It turns out that she is very sensitive to caffeine. It made her SO hyper! (Laugh)

D: If you could choose any other character from Destined at Christmas, apart from Theo, that you would have loved to play, which one would it be and why?

C: Santa…because you know, SANTA!

D: Did you take anything from set, any prop or piece of costume, to remember your experience as Theo?

C: I took my movie daughter home and she became my real daughter. 😉

D: Throwing back to the origins of your career, how did the passion for acting come about in your life?

C: I got my acting start in high school. I had the most amazing drama teacher: Janet Cook. I started doing musical theater and toured with the Broadway tour of Aida, playing Radames. Then I got into film. I’ve loved doing a variety of things between singing, theater and acting in film.

D: Among all the roles you’ve had the chance to play throughout your career, is there any particular role you’re most fond of?

C: It’s hard to beat Jean Valjean in Les Miserables

D: If you had to give some advice to people who want to pursue an acting career, which kind of advice would you give them?

C: Audition for everything! And if you’re not working on a show, then share your craft on social media. Don’t be afraid to share what you do. It doesn’t have to be perfect.

We had the pleasure of chatting with Destined at Christmas’ Director and Writer Brittany Wiscombe, too. You can find full interview here.

They say our favourite heroines’ strong characteristics live in each of us. Right for this reason I’d like to be beautiful like Brooke Davis, clever like Raven Reyes and confident like Stella Kidd. Instead, I’m flabby like Kate Pearson, dreamy like Belle Gold and determined like Brianna Fraser. I love passionate TV series, great cinema, and good books. To combine my greatest passions, I gave life to the world of Survived The Shows, which I’m currently running, as well as creating digital content and writing articles and reviews.
