EXCLUSIVE: Ronnie Rowe Jr Teases ‘Sweet, Relatable, Seasonal’ Story on Hallmark’s “Inventing the Christmas Prince”! – WATCH INTERVIEW

Tamera Mowry-Housley and Ronnie Rowe Jr star in Inventing the Christmas Prince, a new, original movie premiering Thursday, November 18 (8:00 p.m. ET/PT), on Hallmark Channel, as part of the network’s annual “Countdown to Christmas” programming event. We at Survived The Shows had the pleasure of chatting with one of the leads, Ronnie Rowe Jr, about his experience in the making of Inventing the Christmas Prince and what fans can expect from the movie.

What’s the main element in Evan’s character and the movie in general that fascinates you the most and drew you to join Inventing the Christmas Prince?

RONNIE ROWE JR: I would say the most intriguing thing about Evan was how he starts the film and he starts the film as the Scrooge of the film. He’s not very festive, but he’s not much of a people person and he’s a very like workaholic and it’s very different than a lot of the Hallmark Characters that I’ve seen before. So that was one of the things that really drew me to want to do it because the arc is so, so lovely.

As we know quite well so far, Hallmark movies and shows always feature well-shaped and relatable characters – Where are you and Evan most similar and where most different as human beings?

ROWE: I’ll say Evan and I are both workaholics. Very, very dedicated and serious with my work and we’re very different because he’s a Scrooge and I like to think that I’m not. I like to smile and and have fun with people. So hopefully I’m different from Evan in that way. But hey, some people might say I’m a Scrooge too, so who knows?

To all the fans looking forward to watching the movie, how would you describe Inventing the Christmas Prince in just 3 words?

ROWE: Just three that that’s hard. OK. Sweet. Relatable. And Seasonal.

What’s been the biggest challenge for you in portraying Evan?

ROWE: I think the challenge was being not a people person and, you know, kind of being alienated by the Group of People that he has. I think that was the challenging part. But really sitting and being comfortable with not being liked all the time. You know, you want to be liked, but Evan isn’t. I just start this film and it was a lot of fun. There was a lot of fun, but that was probably the most challenging part.

If you could choose any other character from Inventing the Christmas Prince, apart from Evan that you would have loved to play, which one would it be and why?

ROWE: I would say Alonso, who plays Shelby’s best friend. In their their work environment, I would say Alonso just because of how tightly knit they were and how much fun Alonso is. He’s a great character, has some very quirky moments and a lot of witty things to say. So I think I would have loved to be him as well.

They say our favourite heroines’ strong characteristics live in each of us. Right for this reason I’d like to be beautiful like Brooke Davis, clever like Raven Reyes and confident like Stella Kidd. Instead, I’m flabby like Kate Pearson, dreamy like Belle Gold and determined like Brianna Fraser. I love passionate TV series, great cinema, and good books. To combine my greatest passions, I gave life to the world of Survived The Shows, which I’m currently running, as well as creating digital content and writing articles and reviews.
