When Kat unexpectedly returns many years later with her teenage daughter whom Del has never met, the three generations of women embark on an enlightening journey to find their way back to each other and learn important lessons about their family’s past.

“We’ve found our perfect Del Landry in Andie MacDowell. It was crucial to cast someone with the ability to handle the nuances and depth of the role and we can’t wait to see her bring Del to life.”

Her 15-year-old daughter Alice isn’t happy about moving, and the family reunion isn’t what Kat had pictured.

Alice has never met her grandmother Del, as she and Kat have been estranged for more than two decades following a series of lifechanging events. As Alice tries to come to grips with the end of her parents’ marriage and reluctantly acclimate to her new surroundings, she happens upon a surprising path that will lead her to answers about her family’s past she didn’t know she was looking for.

“We’re so pleased to have Sadie Laflamme-Snow as the youngest member or the Landry women in The Way Home. ” said Laurie Ferneau, Senior Vice President, Development, Hallmark Media.

“In her we’ve found the perfect complement to Andie MacDowell and Chyler Leigh. And we can’t wait to see these three talented actresses help us bring the series to life.”

Evan Williams is joining the cast as Elliott Augustine

Evan plays Elliot Augustine, Kat Landry’s (Leigh) good friend from high school friend who now teaches science at their alma mater. The unexpressed feelings he had for Kat back then may still be lurking just under the surface. But the two pick up their easy friendship again when Kat returns to their small town of Port Haven, New Brunswick. Elliot is also her daughter Alice’s (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) science teacher. And plays a surprising role in the journey Alice takes as she learns the truth about her family’s past.

Synopsis of episode 1

Kat Landry (Leigh), her 15-year-old daughter Alice (Laflamme-Snow) and Kat’s mother
Del (MacDowell) are all strong, willful and independent. More than 20 years prior, lifechanging
events prompted Kat to move away from her small, Canadian farm town of Port Haven and she
and Del have been estranged ever since. Alice has never met her grandmother and is unaware
of the reasons for their fractured family. With Kat’s marriage coming to an end and having just
been laid off from her job, she decides to return home after receiving an unexpected letter from
Del urging her to come back. Although Alice is none-too-thrilled, Kat and her daughter arrive at
her family’s farm. Kat is disappointed that she doesn’t receive a warmer reception from Del and
it’s clear that there are wounds that need to heal. Wanting to escape the tension, Alice explores
the property and finds herself on a surprising journey.
