TV Insider has a special Christmas gift for all the Outlander fans out there! A special interview with the protagonist of the STARZ drama, Sam Heughan.
Scottish actor Sam Heughan, protagonist of the STARZ time-travel drama, told TV Insider he’s going to celebrate Christmas in Scotland with his family after spending the last few months in London filming his latest movie, Text For You with Priyanka Chopra Jonas. For the occasion, Heughan also set aside a special bottle of his own whisky, Sassenach Spirit, to share with family and friends.
But coming back to serious topics, which are the movies that the actor usually watch with his family for the holidays? Sam mentions Indiana Jones movies, thinking back to his childhood, or James Bond movies, but among the Christmas ones Elf, Santa Klause The Movie, and the classic Home Alone definitely are at the top of the “to watch” list.
Speaking instead of favorite TV series of the year. Outlander actor explains that, since he stages a lot of high drama himself, when he watches TV he needs something to switch off. So this year he has cultivated more than anything the reality shows culture, like watching 90 Days Fiancé, which is currently his all-time favorite. Otherwise, as a drama series, he loved The Mandalorian, Star Wars’ spin-off series, available on Disney Plus.
Sam Heughan says that in this 2020 he mostly prepared himself for filming his docu-series Men In Kilts with his friend Graham Mctavish, which is set to premiere on STARZ in early 2021.
Men in Kilts tells the story of Heughan and Mctavish’s road trip around Scotland, exploring the history, culture, and the most beautiful landscapes, on which they then wrote the book Clanlands. Sam says laughing that shooting the series made him find out his actually good driving skills, even if the series will probably show the opposite.
“Driving a camera van with Graham ranting by my side and a filming crew with us could be a pretty intense experience but I loved being part of such a creative process, since the very beginnings of production. […] If the season will appreciated and fans will enjoy our roadtrip, there will perhaps be a chance to make another one soon!”Sam Heughan
